Membership Information

IDAS is a resource demonstrating leadership, innovation and integrity in the development and promotion of interior design and self-regulation through public education, networking, mentoring and growth in members. The vision of IDAS is to evolve interior design as an independent and definitive profession within the industry and the province.

IDAS has number of membership categories for practicing professionals

A Registered Professional Member of IDAS has achieved a combination of seven years design education and professional experience and successfully completed the National Council for Interior Design Qualifications (NCIDQ) examination. Individuals who were grandfathered into the Association may also be included in the membership category.

If a member has met all the requirements for Registered Membership they are legally able to use the title “Interior Designer and or IDAS”

A Retired member of IDAS has been a Registered Professional member and has retired permanently from the work force. May use designation ‘Retired IDAS’.

An Out of Province Member of IDAS has met the qualifications for registered membership but resides outside the Province of Saskatchewan and does not practice in the province. May use designation ‘Out of Province IDAS’.

A Provisional Member of IDAS has graduated from a recognized interior design program, is actively involved in the field of interior design and acquiring work experience necessary for the National Council for Interior Design Qualifications examination. May use designation ‘Provisional IDAS’.
Once the seven year combined education and experience requirement has been met, a provisional member has four years to successfully complete the NCIDQ exam.

A Student member of IDAS must be a part or full time student attending a College or University that offers a certificate, diploma or degree in Interior Design and will ultimately be eligible to become NCIDQ certified. May use designation ‘Student IDAS’.

Registered and Provisional members must carry professional liability insurance and as well as fulfill association requirements for professional development and education to be considered members in good standing.
